Program Overview

The course will be given in a combination of online and face-to-face theory and practice sessions. This will be offered on three days per week in a blended learning format. Theory and practical classes will be held in Swansea.

The program team will collaborate with students and industrial partners to create chances for students to get work experience in a real-world industrial setting or at the university.

Year One — Level 4 (Cert HE)

  • Automation and Robotics / Industry 4.0 (10 credits; compulsory)

  • Computer Aided Engineering Design (10 credits; compulsory)

  • Digital Technologies (10 credits; compulsory)

  • Integrating Project (20 credits; compulsory)

  • Measurement and Quality in Manufacturing (10 credits; compulsory)

  • Skills Development in the Workplace (30 credits; compulsory)

  • Technical Skills Development (20 credits; compulsory).

What You'll Go On To Do

The CertHE — Skills for Engineering focuses on developing employability skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. Upon completion, students can progress to full-time BEng (Hons) degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering, Energy & Environmental Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering. Graduates with suitable employment can apply for Higher or Degree Apprenticeships.
