Program Overview

The course will be taught in a combination of in-person theoretical and practical workshops and online instruction. This will be taught in an integrated manner over three days a week. The new Waterfront campus in Swansea will host the theory and practical sessions.

In order to give students the chance to obtain work experience in a true industrial setting or within the institution, the program staff will collaborate with students and industry partners.

Year One — Level 4 (CertHE)

  • Applied Analytics (10 credits; compulsory)

  • Digital Technologies (10 credits; compulsory)

  • Electronics Principles and Concepts (10 credits; compulsory)

  • Integrating Project (20 credits; compulsory)

  • Introduction to Digital Electronics (10 credits; compulsory)

  • Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (10 credits; compulsory)

  • Skills Development in the Workplace (30 credits; compulsory)

  • Technical Skills Development (20 credits; compulsory).

What You'll Go On To Do

This programme helps you build key employability skills—like communication, workplace etiquette, teamwork, problem-solving, and hands-on experience—through every module. After successfully completing the CertHE – Skills for Electronics, you can stay at the University and progress onto a full-time BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

If you secure suitable employment, you’ll also have the chance to apply for a Higher or Degree Apprenticeship, giving you a flexible path to further your education and career in the electronics field.
